All About Fred is based in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

 

Fred evolved ever so slowly having being drawn towards antique and vintage shops over many, many years.  We love the uniqueness, the originality and craftmanship inherent in these pieces from different eras.  Whether it's beautiful handmade, coloured glass paperweights or vintage Baccarat glassware, these one-off treasures excite the imagination.  It's a part of the past we can interlace with our present.

How did we come up with the term “curious collectables” – what does it mean?  It can sometimes be a bit misleading - some think it means quirky bits and bobs…  We added the word “curious” to collectables because this is how we see our collection.  We have a natural curiosity towards each piece – we want to know where it is from, how old it is, there is almost always a history – which makes us curious to know more.  In our era of mass production and “sameness” these collectables stand apart from the crowd.

The start of our business came from the many comments of friends and family admiring our purchases.  We were often asked to “keep an eye out for something similar”.  This led to the realisation that we can share this with others and so began “Fred”.
