Made in the USA by renowned American luxury glass maker STEUBEN GLASS this is a small handblown rooster paperweight and 'hand cooler' designed by prominent glass artist Lloyd Atkins in 1993. Made from heavy, high-index crystal, hand polished and part of Steuben's popular "Hand Cooler" animal series. Though displayed as executive desk paperweights, the hand coolers were designed to be smooth and comfortably held in the hand - a modern reinterpretation of the Victorian era custom whereby palm sized glass was used to cool hands - no more sweaty palms! Pattern #5527. Signed 'Steuben' to base. In fantastic condition - no chips, no scratches. Height 8.5cm.
