Made in Malta, this is a gorgeous vintage, very small, squat vase by MDINA Glass. Handblown in the "Blue Crizzle" pattern, introduced in the late 1970's and characterised by heavy-walled construction and shades of blue - a signature aesthetic of Mdina Glass. Quite collectable! The "crizzle" effect is created by rapid chilling of the molten glass, causing tiny, intricate fractures or cracks that are trapped within the glass. Colours are stunning, especially when the light hits it.. Stunning piece of art glass and also perfect as a purely decorative piece. Signed to base and in fantastic condition - no chips, no scratches, etc. Height 5.5cm, diameter to base 8.5cm approx.
