Made in Malta, this is a gorgeous vintage vase by MDINA Glass. Handblown in the "Blue Crizzle" pattern, introduced in the late 1970's. Quite collectable pattern! Characterised by heavy-walled construction and shades of blue - a signature aesthetic of Mdina Glass. The "crizzle" effect is created by rapid chilling of the molten glass, causing tiny, intricate fractures or cracks that are trapped within the glass. Colours are stunning, especially when the light hits it. Signed to base by artist. There is also an Artisans Centre Valletta sticker to base (this would be where it was purchased from). In great condition - some very minor fleabites to base and a chip near the sticker under base (shown in final photo). Does not detract at all. Height 12cm, diameter to rim 8.5cm approx.
